Marathon Therapy in Seattle

Marathon Therapy, also known as “intensive couples therapy,” is a growing and unique model in the therapy world. It is the most effective solution for couples who need help quickly. In this model, the couple experiences a therapeutic ‘deep dive’ into a specific relational issue(s) rather than focusing on the minutiae of everyday stressors.

Who is Marathon Therapy For?

  • You’ve had a hurt or are recovering from an affair or betrayal (financial, sexual, emotional).
  • Discernment. You’re on the brink of divorce and trying to determine your future/whether to stay together.
  • You’re both too busy to commit to weekly/bi-weekly therapy and need transformation quickly.
  • Your past trauma is having a serious negative impact on your current relationship.
  • You’ve put in so much effort, time, and money into the relationship, but there remains a deep chasm between the two of you.
  • You feel lonely on the inside. You long for the past love you had for each other.

We will explore challenging cycles, traumas, and unhealthy patterns in your relationship, while also experiencing your love, pleasures, and joys which enrich your life as well. These sessions are geared towards transformational change and as such they are intense, but also enjoyable. I have a sense of humor and love bringing it to the room!

How Long are the Sessions?

In marathon therapy, you’ll meet with me for 2.5-6 hours. There will be breaks. For some couples, an intensive/MT will be one 3-hour session once a month for a few months. In other cases, clients may schedule an intensive for 1, 2, or 3 consecutive days or weeks. You will meet with me first so that together, we can determine the length, frequency, and structure of your intensive.
If you are motivated and weekly 50-60 minute therapy sessions barely scratch the surface or have gotten you nowhere, Marathon Therapy may be a really good option for you.
